Srila Prabhupada's Quote Of The Day

October 11

Entanglement means today I am thinking, "I have got this body" - Indian body or American body or this body or this body or fat body, thin body - tomorrow I may not possess. As soon as I get another body, that means the chapter changes. If I get the body of a dog then I may act like a dog. If I get the body of a hog, then I act like a hog. And if I get the body of a God... God you cannot. Demigod, higher standard of life, then you can act like that. The body is the destiny. With the body everything is destined, your material happiness and distress, everything.

The spiritual world there is. Paras tasmat tu bhavo 'nyo 'vyakto 'vyaktat sanatanah [Bg. 8.20]. Everything is there, but we do not take care. We think that "We have understood three bighas of land, my neighborhood" or "this, my India" or "my America," "this planet," "That is sufficient knowledge." No, that is not sufficient knowledge. You have to know so many things. But if you understand Krsna, to understand Krsna means to understand everything.

Students' prayers 24 hours a day to listen to the political talks and desiring the war should stop is useless. God cannot be their order supplier. First of all they act sinfully, and when there is reaction of war, pestilence, famine, and so many other nature's disturbances, they pray to God for stopping them. This is not possible. Just like a criminal first of all commits theft, burglary and debauchery, and when he is captured, by the police force, if he prays to the government to stop, that is not possible.

Letter to Satsvarupa, 9 October, 1968

October 8

There is no difference between Krsna's soul and Krsna's body. Just like we have got. We are different from this body. And Krsna is not different from the body. He does not change His body. Although He assumes several avatara, but he does not change His body.

October 7

Regarding your enemy, Mr. Lust: I have noted the difficulties, but we should always remember that Krishna is stronger than any demon, and Mr. Lust, or his father or his grandfather, nobody can do anything provided we take shelter of Krishna very tightly.

Letter to Hayagriva, 7 October, 1968

October 6

I am very much concerned about yourself that you have been injured, by working; I do not know what sort of ugra-karma you were doing, but whatever you do, you must be careful. Your body is dedicated to Krishna, therefore you should not be neglectful about your body. You should always think that your body is no more your body, but it is Krishna's body. Therefore you should take care of it.

Letter to Jayapataka, 6 October, 1968

Acarya means one who has received the Vedic knowledge through the parampara system. Evam parampara-praptam imam rajarsayo viduh [Bg. 4.2]. He is acarya. Acarya cannot be manufactured, self-made. No. He must come down from the disciplic succession. He is acarya. You have to approach such acarya who is coming in disciplic succession. acaryavan puruso veda. One who is under the shelter of acarya, he knows things. So Krsna recommends also here that if you actually want to become in knowledge, if you want to have real knowledge, then you must worship acarya. Acaryopasanam. This is Vedic system.

There were many incarnations, and incarnations are coming incessantly just like there are waves in the ocean or in the river. You cannot sit down and count how many waves are flowing. As it is not possible, similarly, you cannot also count how many incarnations are there, how they are coming out. But the most important of them are described. And the conclusion is made that Krsna is the origin, as it is confirmed in the Bhagavad-gita. Aham sarvasya prabhavah. "I am the origin of everything, even the incarnations." Aham sarvasya prabhavo mattah sarvam pravartate [Bg. 10.8]. Everyone, all incarnations, all demigods, all living entities, all energies. The Vedanta-sutra also confirms, janmady asya yatah [SB 1.1.1]. The Absolute Truth is that which is the original source of everything.

Anyone this humbleness and humility is taught everywhere. Without being gentle, humble, how one can be a man of knowledge? But at the present moment the humility is forgotten. Everyone is proud unnecessarily. Although he's nothing, he's proud. So much so that sometimes a rascal says that "I am God." This is the modern civilization. He's so puffed-up, so proud, that one claims to become God, what to speak of other things. No. The first thing is that one must be very humble.

October 2

When you hear sound, you can remember God. When you drink water, you can remember God. When you see some illumination, you can remember God. And when you chant some mantra, some hymn, that also you can remember God. So where you cannot remember God? Everywhere. This is Krsna consciousness, God consciousness. Always, twenty-four hours we can remember Krsna. That remembrance means that Krsna is with me. Krsna is already with me, but as soon as you remember, that is factual.
