Niranjana Swami's Quote Of The Day

March 12

Sometimes we foolishly think that the way to make bhakti easily accessible is to package it in a way that makes it look more attractive. "This is how to make bhakti easily accessible. Let's package it so that people will be attracted." But what does Kaviraja Goswami say? How did Lord Caitanya make bhakti so easily accessible? He made it accessible because He was practicing it fully Himself. Therefore it was by seeing His devotion, the tears from His eyes, His taste for the holy name of the Lord, and His ecstatic symptoms that people became devotees of the Lord.

When Krsna came, He demanded surrender. But Lord Caitanya took away that condition. Instead He taught by His example what real surrender is.

Prabhupada explains in his commentary to one song that previously when the Lord appeared as Krsna, He established a condition, "First you surrender to Me." But as Caitanya Mahaprabhu, He took that condition away. Instead of surrender, He said, simply just take that which I have come to offer. He didn't display Himself as the Supreme Lord but always as a devotee of the Lord.

Who was the devotee who was always thinking of Krsna the most? Always speaking about Him? She was none one other than Srimati Radharani. She is always absorbed in thoughts of Krsna. So Lord Caitanya appeared and He adopted the mood of Radharani, the topmost devotee who is always thinking of Krsna and is always serving Krsna.

In Satya, Treta, and Dvapara yugas, the Lord appears as the Supreme Lord. But in Kali-yuga, the Lord is hidden, He is channa-avatara. He is a hidden avatara. He doesn't assert Himself as the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

My mission is to teach devotees what it means to constantly chant the holy name of the Lord feeling oneself to be lower than the blade of grass, more tolerant than a tree and ready to offer all respects to others. That is my mission. Because those who accept that mission will be able to tolerate anything that may happen to them and still be completely dedicated to Prabhupada’s mission.

The best service a devotee can render to others is to take shelter of the instructions of guru and Krsna and take part in the sankirtan movement of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

A devotee never becomes happy to see others in pain. He is para dukha dukhi. He sees other's pain as his own.

The only thing you can do to get somebody else to be sincere with you is to be sincere yourself.

We don't see Krsna yet. But we must have enough faith to see Krsna in the words of His devotees who represent His instructions.
