Srila Prabhupada's Quote Of The Day

May 30

Whenever there is unwanted population these three things will naturally, by nature's course, appear —  famine, pestilence, and war — and the population will be finished. There was some unwanted population at that time also for which Krishna arranged the war, battlefield of war. If we want very good population, very good generation, then we have to follow the principles of Bhagavad-gita.

When I go to Los Angeles I am in Vaikuntha. When I go to New York I am in Vaikuntha. Wherever we have got a temple, that is Vaikuntha. So why shall I have objection? Do your duty nicely and see what Krishna desires. Let it be fulfilled. But you do your duty. It is your duty to pray to Krishna as affectionate children, and let Krishna decide. And I have no objection, either.

For offering prasadam simply prayers to the Spiritual Master is sufficient. The process is that everything is offered to the Spiritual Master, and the Spiritual Master is supposed to offer the same foodstuff to the Lord. Therefore simply by chanting the prayer to the Spiritual Master, everything will be complete.

When I left India, I promised "I'll never come back here." I was reluctant to do anything here. But still, I thought, "At least in Mayapura let me have my..." (laughs) "There is Vaisnava, so many resident, in Mayapura, Vrindavana." I promised that "I'll never come again, back again here." That was my promise. But Krishna wanted. That's all right. I was quite disgusted. Still I am disgusted.

The child is born; immediately there is milk in the breasts of the mother. And one minute before, there is no milk. Just the child is born, immediately. Who supplies the milk? He does not see that one Supreme is supplying all the necessities of the others. So our duty is only to become Krishna conscious. Other things will be supplied by Krishna.

Don't be after these motorcars, television, and all nonsense things, sporting, wine, women. Don't be after these. Simply eat sufficiently, keep your health nicely, chant Hare Krishna, realize Krishna, and go back to home. This is our philosophy.

It is the duty of the spiritual master to find fault with his students so that they may make progress, not that he should always be praising them. So if you find some criticism, kindly accept it in that spirit. I am only interested in that you along with all my other students should become Krishna Conscious.

You cannot stop fighting between the dogs and cats. Why there is fighting? Because the dog is thinking, “I am dog.” The cat is thinking “I am cat.” Similarly, if I think as Irishman, or “I am Englishman,” it is the same thing. As the dog is thinking, “I am dog,” so if I think, "I am Irishman,” “I am Englishman”, I am no better than the dog. As we cannot stop the fighting between dogs, similarly, so long people will remain in bodily concept of life, the fighting cannot be stopped.

A spiritual master is not a fashion, that "Oh, I should have a spiritual master." People after fashion. No. One must be very much inquisitive to know what is the highest perfection of life. If one is actually inquisitive to understand about the highest perfectional stage of our life, then he should search after a spiritual master.

Chanakya Pandita says that there is no comparison between a rich man and a learned man. They are different categories. A rich man, a king, may be very respectable in his own country amongst his own men, but a learned scholar is respected all over the world. If one is respected all over the world, and if one is respected in his own village, how there can be any comparison?
